Baseball/Softball
"Strike three!!! He's out of here!!"
I bet you're wondering, what is the differences between baseball and softball. The simplest difference is that girls play softball and boys play baseball. Another difference is how they play in softball girls throw the ball closer and underhand, while boys throw it from father and overhand.
In these sports there are nine positions: first, second, short stop, third, left field, right field, centerfield, catcher, and pitcher. The positions with field in the name, play in the outfield or the back of the field. The pitcher well pitches the ball to the catcher. He catches it and throws it to the pitcher. The other team is batting and the pitcher throws it to them to get them out. If you get three strikes which are down thee middle you are out and it the next persons turn to hit. If the pitcher throws four pitches that are not in the strike-zone, it is a walk and you get to go to first base. If you get hit with a pitch, you run to first.
if somebody is at first and running to second while you are running to third at third they can touch the base but if one of those people get out they have to touch you. If they can touch the base this is called a force out and if bases first through third have people on this it is called bases loaded, and if you hit a home run with bases loaded it is called a grand slam and you get four points, each player counts as one point. Now if you hit a ball in the air a somebody catches it but another player is running they can touch the bag the player started and get you out. You can prevent this by waiting till they catch it and then run once they catch it. This is called a tag up. Oh and to switch like your team is hitting and the other team is in the outfield you have to get somebody out three times, so if there is a ball in the air and two outs you run because if they catch it that is three.
Baseball and softball are challenging sports that require patience and skill. They are a lot of fun to play and watch.
